The future of Marrin Weejali relies on continued funding from a range of funding sources.
We accept personal donations and invite philanthropic organisations and government departments interested in assisting us to continue our valued services to contact us.
Tony Hunter, Marrin’s Uncle Tony, founded Marrin Weejali in 1995 as a cultural healing group that met on the banks of the Hawkesbury River.
It quickly became evident that there was a demand among our people for the work Tony did and the peace it brought to our community.
Tony worked hard to secure funding in 1996 and established a centre for those affected by drug and alcohol misuse in a housing commission house in Emerton.
Again, the demand for Tony’s services grew until he gained enough funding for the purpose-built Marrin Weejali centre, operating today in Blackett, opened in 2008.
It costs money to continue to run our centre and we rely on funding from government grants, sponsorship, donations and the support of our partners and general public to keep the doors open at Marrin Weejali.
We welcome our clients to Marrin Weejali with open arms.
Marrin is your safe place to find help and healing, and we are happy to see you walk through our doors, even if you are more broken than you ever have been before.
It is our dream to extend our services to encompass residential facilities, so that our clients can access a culturally safe place to rest their heads when they are most in need.
