Trisha

My counsellor at Marrin Weejali helped me turn my life around for the better. When I think back to my life before I was referred for counselling, all I can think of is hurt, turmoil, abuse, low self-esteem, guilt and so much more.

My life turned around the very first appointment I had at Marrin. It was like a light bulb went off for me and so much made sense all of a sudden.

Just in one appointment my counsellor made me realise I had a massive drug and alcohol problem, and this was something I had no idea I had for the past 10-15 years.

The things my counsellor said connected me to so much of my past. I walked away from that appointment thinking, “I have a drug and alcohol addiction. I can’t believe it!”

Yes, I was shocked to realise I had a drug and alcohol addiction and the weird part was it didn’t take long for me to start working on it once I realised I had a problem. All I could think about was getting better – for myself and more so for my children and family.

With my counsellor’s help and constant positive advice, I started to find myself in rock bottom situations and still did not turn to drugs or alcohol. Because I realised I had a problem, I was able to be completely aware of what I was doing and I was able to control my actions.

I am so grateful that I was referred to Marrin and to my counsellor. Even if I am sent to jail tomorrow, I know I will be strong enough to not turn to drugs and alcohol ever again. I choose a better life for me and my kids, so thank you for everything. Marrin is a truly amazing place with amazing counsellors.
